Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

DBT combines elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) with mindfulness and dialectical philosophy. DBT was initially developed to treat individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD), but it has since been used to treat a range of mental health issues, including mood disorders, substance abuse, and eating disorders. DBT involves teaching clients specific skills, including mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. DBT has been shown to be effective in improving the quality of life for individuals with a range of mental health issues.
